City Development Strategies Initiative The CDSI is a 'developing practice' which seeks to enhance the ability of the urban sector in developing countries to benefit through greater exposure, shared experience and the ability to access international expertise. CDSI has developed a series of channels that enable urban authorities and organisations from public and private sectors to communicate on a regular and proactive basis. The CDSI works closely with many leading development agencies and with over 700 cities in Latin America, Africa and Asia, as well as a number of private sector organisations whose expertise and technologies can make an outstanding contribution to sustainable urban development and management.

Infrastructure
Institute for Civil Infrastructure Systems (ICIS) ICIS develops resources and networks to interactively disseminate new knowledge focused on sustaining, renewing, and improving the USA's infrastructure system.  The site has an extensive links section.

Research
International Institute for Environment and Development - Human Settlements The Programme's main interest is in reducing poverty and improving health and housing conditions among the urban populations of Latin America, Asia and Africa, especially among low income groups. The Programme also seeks to combine this with promoting more ecologically sustainable patterns of urban development. Its work includes research, evaluation, technical assistance, seminars, publications and, in recent years, training and is carried out by a small team in London working with researchers and activists based in cities in the South.
The institute also publishes twice yearly the journal Environment and Urbanization, one of the world's largest circulation journals on urban and environmental issues. Most of its authors and subscribers are in the South.
